Harrison Wedding

September 10, 2013

It has been way to long since my last post and I wanted to start back with a couple images from my recent wedding. I have now moved to Brooklyn, NY and am working on building my clients. Moving to a new area always seems to be challenging, definitely in the creative field.

I had a blast at this wedding and Chris and Jenn were such a pleasure to photograph.

Enjoy the images and be on the lookout for new images and posts.

My Imaging Systems Photography Book

April 12, 2013

It has been an extremely long time since my last post and has been a very busy few months with work and my graduation from RIT in May. I wanted to write a quick post to share my book. I recently wrote and designed my own photographic technology book while using my own images. The book represents the imaging systems process from capture to print or digital output.

I hope this book gives my fellow photographers a better insight in what happens when you release the shutter to the final product.

I made this book for my Imaging Systems minor with Professor Nitin Sampat at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Rose Senior Portrait Session

August 24, 2012

It has been a while since I had the chance to post but I will try my best to get back on track. This summer has been very busy and great things are in the works. More news on that in later posts.

For now, I want to share one of my Senior Portrait Sessions that I had the pleasure of photographing.

Enjoy the photographs and make sure you subscribe to the right for future updates once conclusions are finalized.

This is a few of my favorites chosen.

Fashion in Color

July 9, 2012

For the past five weeks I have been working very hard on manipulating and understanding color within my photographs. I used gels in multiple locations, 5 color gels and 1 natural light for skin tone in the face. I knew where the colors would fall and an estimate of the colors I would get from them combining but it was exciting to see them falling on the subject and how they formed within the shadows.

Here are a few of the images from the past five weeks. I have these in order from the first shoot to the last so you can see the changes I made.

A special thank you to the models who willingly participated.

Danielle D., Rylie T., Kelsey M., Cecilia H., and Rose W.

Enjoy!

More great test shoots!!!! Here are just a few of my favorites.

Model Tests (Commercial)

May 27, 2012

I had another great testing day with Wilhelmina Rochester and I got the chance to work with three 12 year olds and one 19 year old. This is the first time I photographed younger kids within a test day but they really did model like pros.

I have also started teaching modeling classes. Due to my background in the industry and understanding what works well in a image I have been asked to teach young models how to move in front of the camera as well as work with clothing and creating movement within dynamic photographs. Learning the basics of how to move in front of the camera can expedite a career.

A young model should also understand that there are a lot of bad photographers and the better a model moves the better chances that a photograph will be great regardless. Why do you think top models are at that level? They perform in front of the camera and understand their body movements. There are good photographers that understand how this can enhance an image but there are not many. Some photographers will direct a model exactly how they want them and these photographers understand movement in a photograph but there are also photographers that don’t direct models and expect them to move and perform. It isn’t that these photographers are bad but they may not understand the dynamic of movement and creating images that hold attention and carry the viewer through the frame, which is important for advertisements.

It is also important to keep a model relaxed and having fun. After all, if we aren’t having fun then why are we doing it? I love my job and enjoy every moment of it. With this in mind you should head over to my facebook page and take a look at the Color Checker images of these models. It will be an interesting contrast from the images below. Click here for a direct link: Colorchecker Album. These particular models are at the bottom of that Facebook album acting insane.

Enjoy!

Fashion shoot.

May 22, 2012

I got the chance to work with Cecilia again and once again she did excellent. It is always great working with talented individuals.

I decided to portray a theme in these images. Recently I have been thinking about the future and what direction we are heading as a human race. For me it seems like we are more concerned about personal appearance and self gain rather then the earth that is breaking down around us.

I have also been thinking about photography and how great images seem to have an underlining message that most people don’t notice or are too busy to care. Artists have always instilled subtle opinions within their work. It is a form of a podium that a political uses to project opinions and facts. Everyone has to have a voice and using God given talent to convey that voice is a responsibility that should not be overlooked.

With that in mind I proceeded to photograph a future inspired shoot.

Model Portfolio Building

May 7, 2012

Once again, I had the wonderful pleasure of working with models from Wilhelmina Rochester. This group just seemed to work with the camera very well. I can’t express how important training is no matter how you get it. It really does make a difference.

Enjoy!
